Can Someone Help Me?

Yes! Assisted and Therapeutic Bathing & Showering  has been available at Sheppard House since July 2007.

What Is Your Assisted Therapeutic Bathing?

Assisted and therapeutic bathing has been available at Sheppard House since July 2007. The annexe has two bathing suites, which offer assisted bathing with relaxing massage/cleansing bath or shower. We also have a purpose built shower to enable our clients to also have an assisted shower.

What Types Therapies Are Also Available?

There are various therapies such as back-care and chiropody available in the annexe. We also have someone who visits regularly to check and clean hearing aids.

What Do You Sell In Your Charity Shop?

We have a comprehensive second hand book service & there are many opportunities to find a bargain or a specialist limited print book. In addition to books we have a large section of clothes and bric a brac which is constantly changing. We welcome any donations of clothes or other items suitable for selling as all profits from the shop go towards supporting activities at Sheppard House.

Can I Donate?

We rely donations & grants for our operating costs and are truly thankful to all who support our cause. There are different ways to help support our work. Not everyone can run a marathon but if you can we would like to hear from you; we can provide shirts and sponsorship forms.

Do You Run A Separate Charity Shop?

Yes! We have a charity shop called "Old Shambles” in Church Street! We are a local charity benefiting local people. All the income generated from the donations that we receive is invested back in to the Association providing direct services to people in the North Forest area.

Are You A Registered Charity?

We are a Registered Charity and rely heavily on grants and donations for our operating costs; there are different ways to help support our work. Not everyone can run a marathon but if you can we would like to hear from you; we can provide shirts and sponsorship forms.

Who Supports You?

We have been very fortunate in receiving many donations from individuals and our very generous Parish Councils; particularly at harvest time and welcome any support where possible. You might like to hold an event for us, perhaps a coffee morning or afternoon tea. How about a dinner party? Quiz evening?

Do I Have To Stay The Whole Day?

We offer a half-day option finishing at 1.30pm after lunch for those living in Newent.

When Does The Day Centre Run?

We are open four days a week from 10.00am – 3.30pm. Our day centre programme begins at 10.30am and finishes at 3.30pm. We offer a half-day option finishing at 1.30pm after lunch for those living in Newent.

What Is The Day Centre?

Our Day Centre is open to provide activities, social care, therapies in addition to personal care for those who spend time with us.

Where Is Your Food From?

We provide quality locally resourced food. We try our best to always support the local economy.

Do You Cater Do Dietary Requirements?

Yes! We are able to meet special dietary requirements and welcome suggestions and favourites!

Does Sheppard House Provide Food & Drink?

Yes! We do. We provide quality locally resourced food cooked thoughtfully and well, which appeals to our clients’ tastes. We try and support the local economy. We are able to meet special dietary requirements and welcome suggestions and favourites!

Does Sheppard House Provide Community Transport?

Yes! Our Community transport bus will stop and pick up on request. Services and timetables can be found here.

How Do You Operate Community Transport?

All transport services operate under a special permit that allows us to help people of limited mobility and enables them to lead a more independent life.

What Is Newent Dial A Ride?

The Newent Community Link Service (run by Newent Dial-a-Ride) operates like an ordinary bus service. Just turn up at your usual bus stop at the scheduled time. The service includes routes  632, 676, 679, 693.

Is Your Community Transport Only Available For The Elderly?

We provide transport for anyone child or adult with learning and/or physical disabilities to local special needs facilities and schools.

Does The Community Transport Have Age Restrictions?

There are no upper or lower age limits and therefore our services are available to anyone, both during temporary disablement and for longer periods of time. Your doctor, health visitor or other practitioner is able to refer you to us, but you may also contact us directly.
